Student clinics

Our students learn from leading academics who are at the forefront of their chosen fields. Students are either post-graduate qualified or in the final years of their studies and are under direct supervision from experienced professional practitioners registered with the AHPRA.

At your initial admissions visit, you will be referred to the most appropriate student based on your dental needs. Students are organised into teams and cross referrals between team members may happen during your treatment. Once you agree to a treatment plan, you will be requested to sign your consent electronically.

Our private clinic is comprised of registered dentists, dental specialists, dental prosthetists and renowned academics who are leaders in their chosen fields. Our clinic is the only place in Queensland that have such a high concentration of health experts and high-end technology under one roof.

Our practitioners use evidence-based practices to ensure you receive the latest and most comprehensive dental treatment available. At your initial admissions visit, you will be referred to the correct professional based on your dental needs.

Free dental checks

We offer free comprehensive dental check-ups (including 2 x bitewing x-rays) for new patients when seen by a supervised dental student (for the first dental check only). We also offer free follow-up treatments for eligible children aged 4 to 16 and in grade 10 or lower, as well as discounted rates for adults when seen by a supervised dental student. Receive first-class general and specialist dental treatment in our state-of-the-art facilities. Our clinic is open to the public and no referrals are required for most service providers.

To see our dental students, you will be booked for an admission appointment, which may require an OPG X-ray (which is bulk billed for green Medicare card holders). While you wait at reception, you will be asked to complete a registration form which includes your medical history details, consent for treatment and consent for financial policy.

During the admission appointment our students will perform a comprehensive examination to review your overall health and determine your initial dental needs, and whether the clinic will be able to provide your required dental services. They may also be required to take some X-rays as part of the examination process.

You also have the option to book an appointment within our private clinic where you would be treated by registered dentists directly.

Our dental clinics are equipped with high-end technologies and our practitioners use the latest evidence-based practices and techniques during treatment. Our 150-seat patient lounge is the perfect place to relax while waiting for your appointment and the dental clinic itself houses over 110 cutting-edge dental chairs that treat over 1,000 patients per week.

Our on-site radiology area is operated by an external provider (Qscan) that provides a range of radiology services to assist with your dental treatment needs. We also have our own commercial prosthetic dental and clinical skills laboratory and a dedicated area for dental researchers.

Are there fees?
QLD residents with concession or pension cards, and children between the age of 4-16 that are seen in our student clinic are covered by our QLD Health agreement and there is no charge for common services. All other patients will incur a fee which is significantly lower than lower than market rates.

How long will my consult last?
Depending on the complexity of your treatment your appointment could be anywhere from 20 mins to 2 hours.

Will they provide me with a quote before treatment?
A full treatment plan will be provided for your review and consent prior to completing work. The quote is valid for 12 months providing your care needs remain consistent. We are unable to provide quotes over the phone, as a clinical examination and care plan is to be completed by the physician initially.

How long are the wait lists?
Wait lists vary depending on appointment availability, treatment needs and concession/ pension card status. They can vary from months to 3 years.

Can I get a quote/price over the phone?
No, we are unable to provide this for you as a clinical assessment must be completed and a decision made as to what clinic you would be seen in- which impacts the price.

If I don't have a concession card, can I still be treated? Is it cheaper?
Yes you can. There are options to be treated in our student clinic or in our dentist lead led clinics. Student clinics are 20-40% cheaper than market averages.

Am I eligible to see the students?
Yes. Our students learning experience is our highest priority. However, all patients need to undergo an in-person screening process to access your clinical needs and suitability for the student clinics.

Do you provide General Aesthetic? No, this is not required for services within our clinic

Do you provide gas?
Yes this is provided where clinically appropriate within dentist led clinics and not our student clinics.

Do you have a payment plan?
Yes, we do offer payments plans for eligible treatment.

Do I need a Referral?
No, you do not need a referral for most treatment. However, we may request a referral for specialist treatment.

What are the parking options?
While there is no onsite parking available, we are conveniently located near the Griffith University tram stop which is fully accessible with lift access and across the road from the Gold Coast University Hospital which has a multi-story car park. We encourage you to consider alternate transport options. For patients that hold a disability parking permit, we have limited disability parking available on site.

Can I have an Xray if I am pregnant?
X-rays while pregnant are not recommended. However, appropriate precautions can be taken if and x-ray is required for an emergency.

Do you provide interpreters?
No unfortunately we do not have an interpreter service available on site. Patients must understand what care they are consenting to so we welcome patients to bring a family member or independent interpreter with them to their appointment.

Can I be seen if I am from a different country and don't have a Medicare card?
Yes you can, this will incur an out of pocket cost.

How do I get in to see the students?
Our wait list is currently open and we can take your details today. We will then call you in for a screening appointment once available. We encourage patients with QLD Health cards to also put your name on the QLD Health wait list as our lists operate independently.

Are the students supervised?
Yes all students are supervised by a fully qualified dental practitioner.

What is the cancellation process?
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy with a fee of $25 for cancellations inside this timeframe. You have the option to cancel through the text message reminder or through our phone line.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?
Please bring any concession or pension card, photo ID and bank card if payment is required. We are a cash free facility and cannot accept American Express. Please additionally bring a list of any medications you are currently on.

Can I see a private dentist instead of a Student?
Yes we can support this request.

Where are you located?
We are on the corner of Parklands Drive and Olsen Avenue. We are on level 3 behind the Okey Dokey caf茅.

Do you have wheelchair access?
Yes we are a wheelchair accessible facility. If assistance is required for transferring or for activity of daily living, we would request that the patient bring a support worker or family member that is willing to assist.

Is Griffith University part of QLD Health?
No, Griffith University is independent to QLD Health, however we do have an agreement with QLD Health and provide care for certain treatment conditions and patients.

The Griffith Health Clinics are located within a short walking distance from the Gold Coast University Hospital G:Link stop. The service runs from Helensvale to Broadbeach South and is a reliable and convenient transport option.

The Gold Coast University Hospital is located directly across from the Griffith Health Clinics and has ample paid parking available. The 24-hour commercial multi-storey parking facility is a convenient option for those travelling to our Clinics.
